Our Story

At Poppy, we make it easy, and, dare we say, enjoyable, to visualize, plan and order your wedding flowers. We know our customers have a million details to manage when planning their big day, and we want to make picking petals the easiest part.

We use technology to trim wait time on proposals, perfect personalization, and reclaim the joy in planning your wedding. We source directly from the best farms and wholesalers in the industry to deliver the highest-quality stems at affordable prices. And we’re building a highly experienced, tight-knit group of talented designers who are experts at bringing your perfect floral vision to life.

CEO & Founder

Cameron Hardesty
Poppy was founded in 2019 by Cameron Hardesty. While working at The White House in 2014, she learned floral design at The White House flower shop from her floral mentor, Laura Dowling, and, later with master florist, Gregor Lersch in Germany. Most recently, she spent four years helping scale one of the biggest floral e-commerce gifting start-ups in the country, where she was responsible for farm-direct procurement and product development.

After managing the florals for her own wedding in 2017, which was later published in Martha Stewart Weddings, she saw an opportunity to pair farm-fresh flowers, talented designers and on-trend floral designs — at an affordable price.

Manager, Business Operations

Rachel spera
Rachel joined the Poppy team in 2019 and is involved in all facets of the business from overseeing operations to planning and executing marketing strategies. Prior to joining Poppy, Rachel managed the McCain Institute’s flagship leadership development program while pursuing her MBA from Arizona State University.

Recently married, Rachel knows first-hand the excitement and stresses that can accompany wedding planning, and she is driven to make the process easier and more fun for all Poppy customers! When she’s not in the office, Rachel makes sure to carve out time to explore DC’s expanding culinary scene.

Sourcing

Poppy is on a mission to elevate event florals – from seed to ceremony.

Poppy has built a new ecosystem of empowered employees, fair floral practices, transparent supply chains, and trimmed costs. We partner with like-minded farmers and wholesalers who deliver high-quality blooms because we care just as much about the hard-working women who harvest, deliver and arrange our blooms as we do about our brides [grooms and wedding planners].

We’re cleaning up the ugliest parts of a beautiful business, so you can feel good about the flowers in your hand.

Where we are

Currently, we are servicing Washington, D.C. and the surrounding communities of the DMV.
